Soon after its foundation in 1950, Clock industry INSA, with headquarters in Zemun, became an important Yugoslav manufacturer of clocks, clock mechanisms and other instruments from the field of measurement technology and precise mechanics. In the following decades, it became one of the leading clock manufacturers in the world. Part of that success can be attributed to Gojko Varda, the company’s collaborator since 1960. Thanks to his design solution, table clock with a classic wind-up mechanism got a modern look and gained huge popularity. After that, a whole series of clocks appeared, which were designed by Varda who always followed his own motto that design has to be available for everyone, and that is precisely how it was, because in former Yugoslavia, almost all households had one of INSA’s clocks.

A clock from this production series was donated to the Museum by Gojko Varda in 2018.
